Growing in Faith
As Christians, it is crucial to continuously grow in our faith. This is because believing in Jesus and getting saved is not the end of our journey. After we believe and convert, we then begin the lifelong process of sanctification, in which we grow in maturity and holiness throughout the rest of our lives.
There are numerous Bible passages about the process of sanctification and growing in faith. We are to grow more and more into the likeness of Jesus Christ, our savior.
Galatians 5 - Fruits of the Spirit
Galatians 5 talks about the fruits of the Spirit. It says this:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If our faith is genuine and we have been truly saved, then we will pursue these fruits of the Spirit. This is because we have been regenerated by God and have a new nature that now desires God, rather than sin. Likewise, Ephesians 4 tells us to put off the old self and put on the new self. It says this:22 to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, 23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. As Christians, we are new creations, and we should not live the way that we used to live.
