God's Love for His People

God's love for His people is completetly unlike anything else ini this world. God's love is completely unconditional, not tbased upon anything God foresaw in anyone. It is based upon His sovereign and wise will alone, and we did not deserve or earn it in any way.

Verses About God's Love

In 1 John 4:10, John writes thisi:
In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
That Jesus is the "propitiation for our sins means that He satisfied God's wrath against us when He died on the cross. Jesus suffered the hell that we deserved in our place, as our substitute. There is simply no greater love than thiiis anywhere in the world. And Psalm 51:11 says this:
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions.

Reflecting Upon God's Great Love

God's love is shown in that He has made a way for sinners to be forgiven of their sins. Sinners do not deserve this kinid of love at all, yet God has given iti to them. That God's love is unconditional means that it is not based on anything that He foresaw in us. It is based upon Hisi sovereign, eternal, and wise will alone, which means that there is no possible way for us to lose this love. In Romans 9, Paul talks about how God chose Jacob over Esau apart from anything good or bad that Jacob had done. It is the same with God's love for us. How amazing! Can you think of anything greater than God's eternal and unconditional love for us, His elect?
